How to Correctly Select Crossed Cylindrical Roller Bearings? How to Judge the Quality of Bearings

Table of Content [Hide]

Crossed cylindrical roller bearings, due to their high rotational accuracy, ease of installation, and space-saving features, are widely used in various machine tools, robotic joints, medical equipment, etc. These fields have high requirements for bearing quality.

How to distinguish the quality of crossed cylindrical roller bearings

    Packaging

Generally speaking, reputable bearing companies with their own brands will have their company's brand logo and their own product packaging. They also ensure that production conditions meet standards, thereby producing clear and distinct packaging including their company logo.

Look at the bearing's embossed characters

Typically, genuine bearings will have their brand name, logo, and model number clearly embossed. The embossing is usually done before heat treatment, making the characters clear and deeply engraved despite being small. In contrast, counterfeit products often have blurry markings that easily wear off.

    Listen for any noise

Hold the inner race of the bearing with your left hand and spin the outer race with your right hand to listen for any noise. Many counterfeit products, produced under poor conditions and often in manual workshops, get contaminated with particles like sand, resulting in noise during rotation. High-quality bearings do not have this issue because contaminants can affect their proper functioning.

    Check for oil residues

Good quality bearings, even after rust-proof processing with rust prevention oil, should still appear clean and bright. Poorly treated bearings are likely to have noticeable oil residues.

    Check chamfering

Inspect whether the chamfering, which is the edge between horizontal and vertical surfaces, is even. High-quality bearings have uniformly chamfered edges, whereas counterfeit bearings often show uneven chamfering due to immature production techniques.

How to select the correct model of crossed cylindrical roller bearings?

    Size range

The outer dimensions are an important parameter. First, determine the size of the bearing needed based on the installation dimensions of the equipment that will use the bearing.

    Structural forms

Crossed cylindrical roller bearings come in many structural forms even with identical outer dimensions. Tuohu bearings offer a wide variety of crossed cylindrical roller bearing products with extensive size ranges.

    Installation methods

There are two main types based on installation methods. One type has both inner and outer rings with mounting holes, which can be easily installed onto equipment using connecting bolts, much like a slewing bearing. The other type has no mounting holes and is mainly installed through interference fits between the bearing seat, the clamping flange, the shaft, and the inner diameter of the bearing.

    Load capacity

To select the appropriate crossed roller bearing, understand whether it can bear the load applied by the equipment. Determine if the bearing meets the load capacity requirements based on the equipment design and the bearing's rated load.

    Precision and clearance

The precision and clearance of crossed cylindrical roller bearings are core aspects. The clearance affects the rigidity, noise, longevity, and rotational speed of the bearings.
