THB Teaches You How to Choose Long-life Bearings


From the viewpoint of long life, the selection of bearings is undoubtedly very important. Today, THB BEARINGS CO., LTD will tell you three choices to follow.


1. Select the bearing model with high load capacity


Bearing selection should take into account the price of the bearing, or use a bearing with strong load capacity but more expensive, or use an ordinary bearing and try to prolong its life. Use bearings with high load capacity, such as cylindrical roller bearings with crown, spherical roller bearings with symmetrical rollers, reinforced tapered roller bearings and ball bearings, ball bearings with modified ball groove generatrix, or use a series of bearings instead of deep groove (single row radial) ball bearings, these bearings with high load capacity may have higher fatigue life due to improved stress distribution or due to the larger number of rolling elements.


2. Select the appropriate bearing size


In order to select the appropriate size of bearing products, the working load, speed and operating temperature of the bearing must be accurately calculated or actually checked. Load has the greatest impact on bearing life, so load, although the most difficult to measure, should be measured as accurately as possible. When the load measurement is difficult, the actual power consumption of the motor can be measured, calculated according to the transmission route and deducted from the power loss along the way, until the calculation of the bearing load is closer to the actual. If the calculated or measured load is too large, the expected fatigue life of the bearing must be reduced by a larger margin, and efforts must be made to remedy it. If the installation site allows, choose a bearing with a larger size; if the radial size is limited, a wider bearing should be selected in the case of a wider bearing; if a wider bearing cannot be used, bearings with higher load carrying capacity can be used.


3. Select the appropriate bearing material


The selection of bearing materials should also take into account its price, and when vacuum smelting or electroslag remelting steel has to be used, attention must be paid to perfect lubrication conditions in order to multiply the expected fatigue life of the bearing. Of course, the cost of choosing bearings made of such high-quality steel is much more expensive than choosing bearings with higher load capacity, but for bearings that are difficult to access and extremely difficult to assemble and disassemble in machines, or bearings used in operating machinery in mines and tunnels, In the case of extremely difficult maintenance, it must sometimes be considered.
